Grand Cayman - Day 1

I love Vacations. I love traveling to somewhere new and learning all about that place or revisiting some place and feeling like you are at a home away from home. This year for our vacation, I chose to go somewhere new, the Cayman Islands. People have asked how I picked this particular Caribbean Island. In all honesty, I don't really know. It was dumb luck really. I think I stumbled upon it on one of those vacation deal sites, researched further, and decided it sounded like a fun time.

So, our plane left bright and early at 6:30! Ah! The solution: do a stay, park & fly in the cities. It was so nice to not have to worry about parking that early in the morning. Our flight connected in Miami. We got into Grand Cayman a little after noonish.

This was our hotel: the Grand Cayman Beach Suites. It had a great location smack dab in the middle of seven mile beach. Our room was huge, complete with a kitchenette, huge bathroom, king size bed, wonderful walk out balcony, and a view of the ocean.

It was raining when we landed, so everything was wet yet. We decided to find the grocery store and stock up on some essentials before heading into town to explore. We ended up eating at Breezes by the Bay, right in the George Town harbor. I tired a local favorite, Conch (pronouced Conk) and Chris had coconut shirmp. They were both wonderful. We also enjoyed some wonderful cocktails. Yum!

We got to watch a wonderful sunset from the Breezes balcony.

And that is pretty much the end of our first day/night in Grand Cayman. We were very tired from such an early flight departure and we wanted to be well rested for our first day of SCUBA early the next morning.

1st Snow & Craig & Kiri's Wedding

So yesterday, 10-10-09 was the first snow of the season. We woke up to a light dusting of snow that dissapeared by the afternoon (unless it was in the shade).

It was a cold day, but snow & cold do not stop weddings, so we headed out to Craig & Kiri's Wedding. The wedding was in Jackson and the reception was at the Horse Barn & Hunt Club outside Lakefield (a familiar place for us as that was where our reception was). It was nice to see you can still expect to have a great time there!

Waiting for them to clear the dining tables to start the dance :)

It was a great night & fun was had by all. Congrats Craig & Kiri!

Cuteness

So you'll have to excuse the major picture overload. These are my children you know!

Cute sleepy Tiger in the kitty bed.

Roxy enjoying the cat tree.

She figured out how to get into the window. She kinda half jumps up and then pulls herslef up the rest of the way.

Roxy decided she needed to get into the cat bed too... so she did :)

So she joined Tiger by climbing on top of her! Don't worry, Tiger got lots of kisses from Roxy for this.

And this is how they ended up sleeping.

Same as most kittens, Roxy discovered boxes. She loves boxes! Especially Mt. Dew boxes! She likes to stick her paws through the middle slit. Tiger enjoys watching Roxy from the outside and occassionaly plays with her and trys to keep her trapped in the box.

And Roxy decided my new helmet was a perfect place for a nap. Of course as soon as I grabbed my camera she woke up.

I was cleaning my scraproom and I had all the bins and paper out of my shelves. So naturally, Roxy thought it was a perfect spot to hang out.

And I got these new plastic bins for storing supplies in (they were going to toss them from work - aren't they just perfect!), and Roxy thinks they are the perfect size for sleeping in.

Cute closeup of Roxy in the bins - see those cute little paw pads!

I'm so sad Roxy is growing like a weed. :( She is going to be full grown before I know it! They need to invent some kind of shot to make her stay small or they need to invent minature cats. So I will enjoy her smallness while I can :)

Meet Roxy

Last week we welcomed a new addition to the family. Meet Roxy! She was born 6/9/09. She has 4 sisters and they are all just bundles of energy. Roxy was so cute and has such personality, we just couldn't resist taking her home!

Here she is at about 4 weeks. Her eyes were still blue here.

Here is Roxy on her first day home (6 & 1/2 weeks). She wasn't concerned with leaving her family, she just liked playing with her ball!

Tiger on the other hand, wasn't very excited about Roxy coming home. She hid in the bedroom for the first few days, then we saw her in the living room & kitchen periodically for the next few day. She has finally warmed up to Roxy and will play with her and lick her. She will however, still growl and snap at time to time. She isn't used to something with such intense energy around!

The dogs have taken to Roxy really well. Here is Roxy trying to cuddle up to Jake. He is doing his best to ignore her and give himself a bath. However, Roxy has recently taken to attacking their tails, which they are not big fans of.

Here Roxy sleeps in daddy's arms. She tends to pass out in random cute positions.

And here she passed out in Nestor's (my dad) lap...

Even after we moved her to the cat bed she slept hard for a good hour or so!

She is defiently a joy to have around the house. She is just a ball of energy most of the time and then she passes out hard. I think she will be good for Tiger - giving her a campanion and hopefully giving her a playmate (and loose some weight in the process). One thing Roxy needs to quit though is pouncing on the bed at 6 in the morning!

Congrats!

A big CONGRATS to all my friends and classmates who got married yesterday!

Jason & Jaclyn DeWall

Andrew & Bethany Hyde

Dustin & Mesa Groen

We had the honor of attending Jason & Jaclyn's wedding. It was wonderful! The catholic church in Heron Lake was just beautiful! I bet the pics are going to be amazing! The wine theme was a lot of fun and the trellis/vineyard about the dance floor was so original and fun!

We were also invited to Andrew & Bethany's wedding, but alas, we could not be at 2 places at once. I tried to make a choice, but in the end I did a coin toss to see which wedding we would be attending. Sorry guys, I wish we could have been there!!!

Again, a big congrats to all of you!

Studio Calico May Kit - Playground

So I had some time this weekend to scrapbook since it was cold and rainy. I set out with a goal of using more of SC's May Kit - Playground. So here is what I have done with the kit so far :)

I also was inspired by a couple pics to use break into some of my older kits. The following where made with 'Jack & Jill' and 'Garment District' respectively.
