Project Life - Week 18 (April 30th - May 6th)
Spring is in full swing during Week 18 in Southwestern Minnesota. And we are busy busy busy around here.
- Chris's classmate, Amber, and her family are down for the weekend for a Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser (her niece has the horrible disease). We were able to meet with them at PJ's on Friday night for some good food and conversation.
- Sneakin' a peak at how I scrapbook
- Jake is a sock dog. He will dig them out of our dirty laundry piles just to carry them around oh so daintily everywhere.
- Butterflies in Monica's garden
- Made a pit stop at Ferguson's in Spirit Lake to look at plants. Just scoping out my options for our flower garden out front.
- Weekly recap
- Saturday night was a Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser at the Country Club. There was an Ugly Hat party I participated in gladly. It was a fun night!
- Took the bike out to Zumba. It feels so good after working up a sweat. So glad I learned how to ride a few years back and got my license.
Once again, thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

Project Life - Week 17 (April 23rd - 29th)
Week 17. Back into the swing of things at home. The weather has turned nice here, so it's time to be working outside on projects. Thus, all our the inside-the-house projects will be suspended until next fall from here on out.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!
- We bit the bullet and went to Runnings to buy the rest of the materials we need for fencing.

Project Life - Week 16 (April 16th - 22nd)
I'm on a Project Life blogging spree! I'm scheduling to not post them all at once though. Luckily, I have a pretty good system down for completing Project Life when I do get time to do it. For the most part, I'm pretty good at journaling in Cozi on a regular basis and taking pictures with my android phone. That makes it pretty easy to sit down and do some mock up sketches to determine which pictures to use. Then, I print pictures off in batches, and viola! Ready to Project Life!
Thanks for taking a look.
Unfortunently, for Week 16 I didn't take a whole lot of pictures. I think I was in vacation withdrawl being so used to having lots of new experiances to take in for the last few weeks and now, nothing. Oops, but I managed to salvage a few.
- Obviously, this is the 16th week :)
- My haul from Kenya. Souvenir's and gifts and what not I brought back.
- Weekly Recap
- Back to work and the never ending ringing of the phone
- We started fencing the back pasture this week. This meant pounding in stakes and making sure they were in straight rows. Kind of a learning curve for us.
- McDonald's (across the street from work) is in mid renovation now
- The dock got pushed in the lake at the cabin. This is a sure sign that spring is coming, right?
- Chris lit 2 big brush burn piles on Friday night. 2 huge flames!
Thanks for taking a look.

Project Life - Week 15 (April 9th - 15th)
Week 15 of Project Life wraps up the end of my Kenya trip. Chris isn't big on taking pictures, so the homefront has no pictures on what was going on this week.
Right Side:
- I really wanted to keep the receipt from our safari company, so I used 3 slots up for it. Love that I was able to keep it.
- Eating Thai with 2 more of Ali's amazing Peace Corps Volunteers - Alyssa and Ryan. The 5 girls pictured here are the 5 that went on Safari together.
- Skipping the next 2 slots filled with receipt
- Weekly recap
- Return airplane ticket stubs
- Visiting a Masai Village near our safari camp. We actually got to go inside tradional mud huts.
- The 5 of us in our safari van - so very much fun!
Thanks once again for stopping by!
Left Side:
- My collection of tickets for matatu rides for the week
- The sign for the entrance to Top Camp, where we stayed on Lake Naivasha. We had a cabin complete with a kitchen (including a fridge, which Ali doesn't have at home!) and an amazing view overlooking the lake.
- A story about a night at the bar/restuarnt at Lake Naivasha
- Amy with the head lamp on. We had to walk from where the restuarant was lakeside to the very top of the hill where our cabin was in the pitch dark.
- Getting groceries at a roadside stand.
- Amy enjoying some frozen yogurt in Nairobi. So good!
- We took a boat ride out on Lake Naivasha to see the hippos. It was so very much fun.
- The view halfway down the hill from our cabin to the lakeside.

Project Life - Week 14 (April 2nd - 8th)
It was been a very busy summer thusfar here. And we still have a lot planned for the remainder. How about for you?
Week 14 brings me to the first full week in Kenya. I took so many pictures this week and next, that it was really hard for me to narrow down what to use. Therefore, I choose once again to do a 2 page spread.
Left Side:
- Feeding giraffes at the Giraffe Centre just outside of Nairobi. So much fun!
- We got caught in a downpour at the Elephant Orphanage. We got absolutely soaked, but it was worth it.
- We had supper at an authentic Ethiopian resturant. Very different that what we are used to here, but still very good.
- Weekly Recap
- Spent a lot of time driving on this trip. For our first and longest journey, we took a 'coach' bus cross country. I got a lot of good reading in on this trip, including; The Hunger Games and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I included my bus ticket over these 2 pockets
- There are markets everywhere in Kenya. Here, we are at the food market in Malaba, just on the boarder to Uganda. The fruit in Kenya is amazing! Nothing like fresh fruit, especially the pineapple the ladies on the side of the road cut up and sold to us for something like 10 shillings (10 cents!)
- At the school where Ali teaches we were treated to more tradional Kenyan food. Maize and Beans the first day and Ugali, Sucuma Wiki, & Nyama the 2nd day. Interesting, but filling.
Right Side:
-Early Morning sunrise walk in Ali's town of Amagoro, Kenya. Surprisingly I was up... my clock was apparantly way off from where it would normally be here - lol, and we were rewarded with a beautiful sunrise. We also learned how much of a draw 3 white girls walking in the country can be. ;)
- The Impala Sanctuary in Kisumu was another amazing adventure. Here is where we pet the cheetahs! I included the admission ticket in this pocket as well.
- The hotel that we stayed in in Kisumu
- A tuk tuk ride with 2 of Ali's amazing fellow peace corps volunteer's out to a resort.
- A night out clubbing in downtown Kisumu - fun no matter what continent you are on!
- Celebrating Amy's birthday in Kenya! I brought little debbie cakes and candles from home for the celebration.
- We visited a resort with a pool called Kiboko (Hippo) Bay for an afternoon. It was nice just to sit poolside overlooking Lake Victoria.
- We also decided to visit a hooka bar on Sunday night for Amy's birthday. We had strawberry and mint flavors. It was a fun first experiance for me.
I used a past SC kit for the papers of this weeks Project Life.

Project Life - Week 13 (March 26th - April 1st)
Welcome back to my Project Life. Sorry I've been a little MIA. I guess I've been busy with real life. It's summertime and thus the season to get things done in Minnesota. Winter doesn't really give us an opportunity to work outside here. We have been busy fencing so we can rent out some acres to some horses. This also means that soon we will be ripping off and replacing the roof on the stable building.

Project Life - Week 10 (March 5th - 11)
Welcome to my Week 10 of Project Life. Yes, I'm a little behind, but I'm still working on it and I love the results when I get the time to work on it. Being that it's nice out, we have been spending all our time and energy outside. That means scrapbooking gets pushed to the back burner a bit.
- I tried out a recipe I found on Pinterest for a Chocolate Cookie made in a microwave in a cup. It was good, and waaayy to easy to make. Could end up being a bad thing because I could make it all. the. time. Sunny and Jake also loved the cookies, but it took them a lot of effort to lick every last bit out
- Weekly recap
- Roxy on a leash in a harness enjoying the outside. She's so funny and creeps around when she's outside
- Waiting to get my last Hep A shot before my trip
- Max's go to sleeping spot as of yet

- Tanning before my trip to Africa

Still going strong with Project Life!
Week 8 brought us on our yearly snowmobile trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. 90% of the pictures this week are from the trip. The one lonely picture that isn't, is a view from our front window, looking at a half suburban that was Chris & Gary's new project for the week (that is still on going).
- At Latchstring resturant
- In the salt mines making hotdogs for lunch
- View out our front window
- Trent buried in snow (stamp from SC)
- Jack on the snowmobile trail
- We hauled 7 snowmobiles out with us
- Me, on the trail, looking behind me at the sleds following me
- At Lewie's and watching movies in the big cabin
Close up of the awesome stamp

Project Life - Title Page & Week 1
This year, I joined the frenzy and decided to give Project Life a try. I decided to do a loose version of it though and have given myself the option of doing 1 or 2 pages at a time. Project Life was created by Becky Higgens. You can read more about it here: http://www.beckyhiggins.com/products/ . Basically, you devote a 2 page spread (in my case most of the time 1) to each week. You record the little things in a Project Life album, instead of more of the big items, like in my regular scrapbooking. Here is my title page:

I made these cute little silhouettes of our family on (ironically) my Silhouette Cameo.

A close up of my map - where we live!

Love my typewriter :)

Week 1 - Starting with New Year's Eve. Some Chinese Fortunes. Changes at work. Starting Project Life & getting Studio Calico happy mail.
