Project Life - Week 16 (April 16th - 22nd)

I'm on a Project Life blogging spree! I'm scheduling to not post them all at once though. Luckily, I have a pretty good system down for completing Project Life when I do get time to do it. For the most part, I'm pretty good at journaling in Cozi on a regular basis and taking pictures with my android phone. That makes it pretty easy to sit down and do some mock up sketches to determine which pictures to use. Then, I print pictures off in batches, and viola! Ready to Project Life!

Unfortunently, for Week 16 I didn't take a whole lot of pictures. I think I was in vacation withdrawl being so used to having lots of new experiances to take in for the last few weeks and now, nothing. Oops, but I managed to salvage a few.

- Obviously, this is the 16th week :)
- My haul from Kenya. Souvenir's and gifts and what not I brought back.
- Weekly Recap
- Back to work and the never ending ringing of the phone
- We started fencing the back pasture this week. This meant pounding in stakes and making sure they were in straight rows. Kind of a learning curve for us.
- McDonald's (across the street from work) is in mid renovation now
- The dock got pushed in the lake at the cabin. This is a sure sign that spring is coming, right?
- Chris lit 2 big brush burn piles on Friday night. 2 huge flames!

Thanks for taking a look.

Project Life - Week 15 (April 9th - 15th)

Week 15 of Project Life wraps up the end of my Kenya trip. Chris isn't big on taking pictures, so the homefront has no pictures on what was going on this week.

Left Side:
- My collection of tickets for matatu rides for the week
- The sign for the entrance to Top Camp, where we stayed on Lake Naivasha. We had a cabin complete with a kitchen (including a fridge, which Ali doesn't have at home!) and an amazing view overlooking the lake.
- A story about a night at the bar/restuarnt at Lake Naivasha
- Amy with the head lamp on. We had to walk from where the restuarant was lakeside to the very top of the hill where our cabin was in the pitch dark.
- Getting groceries at a roadside stand.
- Amy enjoying some frozen yogurt in Nairobi. So good!
- We took a boat ride out on Lake Naivasha to see the hippos. It was so very much fun.
- The view halfway down the hill from our cabin to the lakeside.

Right Side:
- I really wanted to keep the receipt from our safari company, so I used 3 slots up for it. Love that I was able to keep it.
- Eating Thai with 2 more of Ali's amazing Peace Corps Volunteers - Alyssa and Ryan. The 5 girls pictured here are the 5 that went on Safari together.
- Skipping the next 2 slots filled with receipt
- Weekly recap
- Return airplane ticket stubs
- Visiting a Masai Village near our safari camp. We actually got to go inside tradional mud huts.
- The 5 of us in our safari van - so very much fun!

Project Life - Week 10 (March 5th - 11)

Welcome to my Week 10 of Project Life. Yes, I'm a little behind, but I'm still working on it and I love the results when I get the time to work on it. Being that it's nice out, we have been spending all our time and energy outside. That means scrapbooking gets pushed to the back burner a bit.
  • I tried out  a recipe I found on Pinterest for a Chocolate Cookie made in a microwave in a cup. It was good, and waaayy to easy to make. Could end up being a bad thing because I could make it all. the. time. Sunny and Jake also loved the cookies, but it took them a lot of effort to lick every last bit out
  • Weekly recap
  • Roxy on a leash in a harness enjoying the outside. She's so funny and creeps around when she's outside
  • Waiting to get my last Hep A shot before my trip
  • Max's go to sleeping spot as of yet
  • My big grocery stock up for the next week or so
  • Tanning before my trip to Africa

Thanks for looking!

Week 8 brought us on our yearly snowmobile trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. 90% of the pictures this week are from the trip. Studio Calico's Field Guide - October 2011

Here's what I've done so far with Studio Calico's October kit, Field Guide.

That ice cream die cut came from a previous kit, I believe, but I thought it was so perfect for a LO about ice cream. It actually inspired this LO. And I finally got a chance to use my Studio Calico cow stamp. So fun!

I've been trying to document our long summer remodeling... and one of the first things we did this spring was to shingle the house. Dreadful job, but one that had to be done. So, I made sure that it will also be documented in my scrapbooking pages. I used a Heidi Swapp mask for the background and misted in a few different colors.

**Removed for Publishing

I finally did a 2 pager again! I don't often feel like I have enough pictures to warrent a 2 page spread, but I took a ton during our hike up Harney Peak this fall. I Love the pictures from this trip! LOVE! I also added in the pass for our windshield to enter Custer State Park in the bottom right corner. Topped off with some washi tape and it's perfect!

I also love that we were able to get some awesome Fab 4 pics when Anne was back in country for Jen's wedding. I went a little punch crazy on this one... but love the result. And the fact that it's on a gray patterned paper? Even better! I can't seem to get enough of gray these days (i.e. see last LO above).

For this next LO, I broke out my Crafter's Workshop template I got at a going out of business sale last year. I knew when I bought it, it would have some great creative application, but never did I think it would be this spectacular! I love how by just moving the template slightly around the page, I ended up with all this wonderful color and movement. I'm thinking I need to get my hands on a few more of these puppies!

I used a few different kits for this LO, and at the moment I'm not sure of which ones I all used here. I did however, play with my brand new Silhouette Cameo (see that awesome Mt. Rushmore diecut!) {Squeel!} . I sold my Cricut that I never use, and invested in a new Cameo instead. LOVE LOVE this thing! Love that it's based mostly on the computer. but, also Love that I can use an SD card on the go. Love that I don't have to buy whole cartridges for 1 design, and I can instead buy image by image. Still thinking about getting a subscription to the store (you get a discount on prices), but I want to see for sure how much I am actually going to use this before comitting to a whole year. I set up it's very own shelf in my scrap studio and all I have to do is plug my computer into the cameo with a usb cord and I am good to go.

Studio Calico's Glee Club Kit - September

Studio Calico's September kit, Glee Club was full of some very vibrant colors. Love!

Impromptu Photo Shoot - These pictures where taken on a whim so JD could test out his new camera. I then brought over my camera and tumpted his :) I really played with my mist paints here with those lovely Studio Calico Veneer Houses. Loved making a rainbow with them.

5 Years and Counting - Picture taken on our five year anniversary. We went out to supper at the Kinbrae Supper Club (where this pic was taken), then watched the fireworks at my parents house.

Crazy Horse Memorial - This was from out recent trip to Rapid City over Labor Day Weekend. It was very neat to be able to see this memorial for the first time and it will be very interesting to see how it has changed of the next half a decade plus of our lives. (I'm guessing that it still won't be done then either!)

Hag & Stag Party - These were from this summer for Jennie and Jason's Bachelorette and Bachelor Party. I journaled about the night on the manila shipping tag that I altered with mist and stamps. Here is what it says: 'Jennie and Jason had a joint Bachlor/Bachelorette party. First, the guys went golfing while the girls did 'typical' Bachelorette things - games and gifts. Then, we had a doubles beer pong competition and of course some wonderful food. We then all boarded a limo-bus which took us down to Boji for a night of bar hopping. Girls attending: Sarah, Molly, Alicia, Chelsey, Jennie, Ashlee, Lindsey, Alissa, & Carrie. Boys attending: Chris, Mark, Jason, Trent, Just, Will & Jake. The whole day was tons of fun!'

Studio Calico's Boardwalk Kit (August)

Studio Calico's August kit, Boardwalk was filled to the brim with gorgeous blues and greens, making it perfect for water pictures. So today I thought I would share the layouts I have done with this kit.

Soakin' up the Sun - a layout about from one of the Sundays this summer we actually spent part of on the boat. I did lots of misting to get that trim that color.

Reef - I'm still scrapping pictures from our Grand Caymen trip in October 2009. I was very inspired by the hexagons on the Studio Calico paper and thought I'd mimick that with hand stitching connected to it.

Lazy Sundays - This layout goes with the 'Soakin' up the Sun' layout above. Same day. Kevin and Tam came out to enjoy the lovely weather with us on that Sunday.

Like the Wind - I took this picture of Jake running full speed across the pasture this summer. Boy does he love to run, and fast!

Deckers - This is another layout from our Grand Caymen trip. We ate one night at Deckers, which was just across the street from out hotel. It was named because of the red double decker bus built into the wall. Pretty neat. I have to say the food was delish there, if we go back we will definetly visit again.

Perfect Parisian Night - And even farther back than our Grand Caymen trip was our last trip to Europe, in April 2008. Here we are after watching the Eiffel Tower light up at night. Before this we had ate supper in our neighborhood (same neighborhood as the Eiffel tower (; ) and had some wonderful local food! It was such a nice evening!

My Thoughts on Travel - Ok, so this one isn't a Boardwalk layout, it uses some older prodect. But I thought I would share it now anyway. Inside the folder includes a list of the places I've been and my top places I want to go.
